DSIR

Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), with its mandate to carry out activities relating to indigenous technology promotion, development, utilization and transfer operates a number of schemes targeted towards promoting industrial research in the country and fostering an enabling innovation environment through industry and institution centric motivational measures and incentives, to channelize benefits of innovation efforts leading to inclusive and sustainable growth. DSIR is organizing this event jointly with NMCC.
 

NATIONAL MANUFACTURING COMPETITIVENESS COUNCIL (NMCC)

NMCC was set up with an endeavor to provide a continuing forum for policy dialogue to energize and sustain the growth of manufacturing industries in India by enhancing their competitiveness. The council is headed by Chairman and comprises of 28 members.

The council plays a pivotal role in evolving sector specific strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of manufacturing sector by creation of common infrastructure & facilities such as testing, quality, design, training institutes, etc. The council also works towards providing a platform for exchange of dialogue between the public & private sectors and labour & academic sectors.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Conference aims to develop a national strategy to ensure that technology innovation becomes a major driver in the process of national growth and development. The event has been structured to discuss policy interventions for strengthening technology innovation capabilities of industry. The event will explore mechanisms for improving the national system for encouraging innovation and will deliberate on ways and means for nurturing inclusive innovation in the country. The event will also provide a platform for high level networking amongst innovators, entrepreneurs, members of industry associations, policy makers and consultants.

The event aims to identify the strengths that can take forward the agenda of inclusive and sustainable growth based on technology innovation and evolve an appropriate strategy.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

It is well recognized that providing an enabling eco-system for innovation would lead to faster and sustainable growth.
The Conference will discuss mechanisms of creating, supporting and strengthening an eco-system for innovation. It will deliberate on measures for nurturing inclusive innovation leading to sustainable development and enhanced growth. The Department provides a number of incentives and support measures, including direct funding to commercial and non-commercial organizations, for undertaking technology innovation based projects. The technical sessions would address important aspects influencing the generation, implementation and acceleration of technology innovation. It is expected the deliberations would result in specific recommendations towards suitable short and long term policy interventions to take forward the national agenda of inclusive and sustainable growth powered by technology innovation.
