DSIR follows the rules and regulations issued by the nodal ministries such as Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, etc. for discharge of its functions.

For day to day work, All employees of the department follows Government of India Manuals on SR and FR.
