DSIR invites Project Proposals from Interested Organizations

Title: DSIR-Commerce Initiative to Promote Technology Cooperation and Trade between India and Africa

Objectives
  • To identify specific Indian suppliers whose technologies, projects and products have relevance to African region;
  • To identify specific collaborating agencies and business partners in the African region; and
  • To facilitate one-to-one interaction, signing of MoUs, etc. between the suppliers and buyers for project implementation.
Scope

Step 1: Identification of Indian Suppliers and Technologies

This would involve: 

  • assimilation of technology / project offers from information available with DSIR, APCTT, IIFT, NRDC and other concerned agencies; 
  • classification of the technology / project offers according to the focus product groups and focus technology sectors identified for the African region under the Focus Africa Programme; and
  • short-listing of 50 technology /project offers for the African region on the basis of desk research, discussions with concerned agencies and recommendations of an expert group set up for the purpose.

Step 2: Preparation of Export market, Catalogues / CD-ROMs

Subsequent to identification of specific technologies, projects and products, the same shall be produced in the form of bi-lingual (English and French) export quality catalogues and CD-ROMs for dissemination in the African region and scouting for prospective collaborating agencies and business partners in the African region keen to tie-up with Indian agencies. 

Step 3: Market Survey in African countries

A Market Survey in African countries would have to be conducted to precisely assess product/technology areas of interests of African agencies and to identify specific organisations interested in collaborating or doing business with Indian organisations. The Catalogues and CD-ROMs prepared in Step 2 would be distributed while holding discussions with the African organisations. The Indian embassies in the African countries and concerned industry associations would be closely associated in the Survey. The outcome of the Survey is expected to be a list of 50 African organisations keen to do business with Indian organisations.

Step 4: Organisation of a Buyer-Seller Meet in India

Specific organisations in the African region, identified in Step 3 shall be invited to participate in a buyer-seller meet to be organized in India and hold one-to-one interactions with the identified suppliers of technologies, projects and products from the Indian side. The buyer-seller meet is expected to help in formulation of business proposals, signing of MOUs, etc. between the corresponding agencies in India and African countries. Twelve MOUs between Indian Suppliers and African organizations for undertaking collaborative projects, joint ventures, etc. shall be signed.

Algeria & Egypt in North, Kenya & Tanzania in East, Ghana, Nigeria & Senegal in West and South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana in South

Duration

18 Months

Budget Outlay

The projected budget outlay may cover the following, among others:

  1. Manpower and Office Expenses for 18 months
  2. Visit to African Countries for one month by a team of Consultant (with break-up of foreign travel & DA)
  3. Inward Travel of 12 African Nationals to India
  4. Local Hospitality of 12 African Nationals for 5 days including local travel
  5. Catalogue Printing
  6. Buyer Seller Meet in India
